Today I was so excited to go to church because we just got this new Christmas dress for Aubrey. Well we got a call from the bishopric to tell us that church is canceled because of the snow. Ryan went outside and there wasn't even an inch of snow on the ground. As you can imagine, Ryan was shocked because of how easily everything shuts down in Portland due to the weather. He has been talking about it all morning. HAHA!
Anyway, Doesn't Aubrey look like she is getting so big! Her eyes were so open. Man, I have to say she is a pretty adorable baby... but that's coming from her mom.
Wow! The last 2 weeks have been crazy. Everyone told me over and over to get as much sleep as I can before the baby comes because I won't get any when he is here... well that is a true statement except for the fact that I got so much sleep before she came, now I am having a hard time adjusting to no sleep.
I guess I can't say no sleep. At first Aubrey was up most of the night, that was a nervous breakdown! The classic, I can't do this... thought came into mind after a few of those nights. Now after 2 weeks she is getting steadily better. I am praying and reading my scriptures faithfully with hope that the Lord will help Aubrey sleep just a couple more hours a night. I must say it is worth it when I am up with her at 3 in the morning and she looks up at me and smiles. Even if it is just gas... I love my little girl so much! I just look at her and think, how could I love something so much. I am the luckiest mom ever!
I took these pictures this weekend when Aubrey was wide awake. She was posing for the camera and everything! It was really fun. I think she looks like Ryan... but that is just my opinion.
Here she is, the baby we have all been waiting for... AUBREY! Well, I dunno about you guys, but I have anxiously been awaiting her. So here it is, the birth story. Sunday Nov, 23rd; Ryan and I went to my parents house where we found my brother and his girlfriend with the funnest game ever... Curses. Why talk about a game in this story you ask? I am pretty sure this is what put me into labor. I laughed harder in that game than I have ever laughed! My tummy started hurting with contractions, but I thought nothing of it because I had been having contractions for over 2 weeks.
Ryan and I decided to go home at about 11:00pm. He practically had to carry me into the apartment my contractions were so intense. So we decided to call Labor and Delivery. I told them my symptoms and they said I should probably come in to get tested for a bladder infection. Right after I got off the phone with them, I stood up out of the bed and my water broke everywhere! I turned to Ryan and freaked out. I called L&B back and said, bladder infection huh?! JK, I just told them my water broke and they said, then I guess you should come in. We ran around the apartment grabbed my bag together and dashed to the car.
12:30, We got into Labor and Delivery, my Mom, Dad, Erin Doty, and Racheal Pierce(Cousin) came to see me. They hung out with me until 4'oclock in the morning. I started having pretty intense contractions by then so they gave me this awesome medication called fentanol. I tried to go as long as I could without an epidural so that I could move things along. Man, that fentanol stuff made me love everyone! IT WAS AWESOME! I was pretty proud too because I held off of the epidural for a while.
Finally, the epidural was given... which didn't hurt at all... and I was numb. After waiting for about 18hrs to dialate to a 10 I started pushing. I had to push for 3 hrs because she was posterior and they were trying to turn her. After pushing and pushing, she wasn't budging a bit. My mom finally asked the doctor how long she was going to let me go through this. They examined me and figured that she probably wasn't going to come this way, so they told me I should probably consider a C-section. I was pretty upset, but Ryan and I decided it was the way to go. Right when we said yes, they wheeled me right out to the sergery room and got me set up. I fell right to sleep and slept through the whole procedure right up until they pulled her out. I suddenly felt lighter and the baby started crying. They took her over to the warming table where Ryan cut the cord, and all I saw was rolls on this baby. I remember everyone commenting, "WOW! Look at how big her head is."
I thought I was dreaming when they said she was 9 pounds 2 ounces. In fact I didn't believe them. She was beautiful right from the very beginning. When they started sewing me up. Ryan brought her over to me and I just placed my head up against hers. I instantly fell in love and felt at peace. She was healthy and beautiful. She was born at 8:35pm Monday, November 24th. Over 20 hrs of laboring. I finally have my baby. Now at 6 days old she is doing great. I am pretty sleep deprived, but it is worth it. I will stop with my novel now and try to post again soon.
Today was a great day. Erin and I made nursing covers for our future babies. We think it is important to cover up and not expose ourselves to the world. All the covers I have found so far have been expensive (like $30-$40) and ugly. So we decided to go get fabric we really liked, and make our own. I found the idea from a blog called Little Birdie Secrets. They have some AWESOME ideas. There is a link on the side of my blog that brings you to their site. Anyway, Erin and I had an awesome time making them, and they were pretty easy. Plus in all it cost us about $10. Woo Hoo!
In my last post some of you commented that you wanted to see the baby room. Well here it is. I made those curtains for her a few weeks ago. My exercise ball also matches her room. Those things are big and hard to store. Anyway, I think it matches. hehe
There is the little rocking chair that will probably become my best friend at night. I put the blanket that Ryan's mom made the baby over it, because I need to reupholster it. Right now it is blue... which is not a girl color of course.
The blanket on the wall was made by my best friend Erin. She did such an amazing job and it makes the room look awesome!
There is the little empty bassinet, soon to be filled with our wonderful little girl. Woohoo!
This is the first blog I am posting without pictures, just the ramblings of a 9 month pregnant woman. So, I went to the doctor yesterday and told him about all of my aches and pains. Such as, contractions, swelling, pressure on my pelvis... and do you know what he told me. All these pains are good! He said if a woman came into him at this point and said she was doing fine, he would be worried. I am supposed to be miserable at this point and if I get more miserable, that is wonderful. I know... weirdo right?! I wanted to cry at that point of the appointment.
Anyway, putting all the joking aside, I am actually getting very excited, but not too excited. The doctor said that she has dropped, hence me going pee every 2 seconds. (That's not the exciting part) I really feel like she is coming now. She is working her way down and getting into position. I am going to be a mother!! Just writing that makes me want to jump for joy, cry my eyes out, and barf out of fright. Who knew you could have so many emotions all at once. Her baby room in finished and I have everything ready for her. Ryan is getting so exciting too. We are going to be parents... YEAH!! but I am not getting my hopes up that she is coming early. :) Can I just say I love my husband and the support he has given me through all of this. I couldn't ask for better!
The weekend before Halloween Ryan and I went to Pasco to visit the Fam one last time before the baby comes and we had an awesome weekend! I ground wheat for the first time and made whole wheat pancakes. Not to mention Ryan's mom let me take home 3 bags full of wheat flour and a bunch of recipies. I love my mother-in-law! So while we were there on Saturday night our dear friend Sonja took maternity pictures of us so that we can share this experience with our sweet baby girl in the future. Not only did she take the pictures but it was done at 10:00pm because we were only there for the weekend and she worked around our schedules. She is so awesome! Anyway, hope you guys like them because I am so excited about them. So this is me at 35 weeks. If you want to see more, I posted pics on my facebook.
Ashley, Mckenna, Cooper, Ryan and I carved pumpkins last night and here are our beautiful creations. Look there is even a baby pumpkin and she looks really excited to meet everyone... only about 30 days! The one of the left says Coop. Just in case it is hard to read.
Of course there had to be some pumpkin fights. Cooper got smashed in the face with a hand full of pumpkin, complements of Ryan.
This is Ryan, very satisfied with what he has done.
This pumpkin was awesome! They even carved the tiny pumpkin that is being eaten by Ashley's big pumpkin. We had a lot of fun.
Looking back at all the pictures I have taken of myself with this baby bump I am AMAZED to see how much I have grown. I can't believe that women can stretch like that. We are all pretty amazing RIGHT GIRLS!?! I will post pictures of our new apartment soon, just thought you all might like to see this.
This photo shoot was so much fun! Ryan, Ashley and I went down to our Grandma Leland's house to take some pictures with this awesome lens I got for my camera. Ryan was fanning Ashley with the reflector and made her laugh a lot! We had a TON of fun. What do you guys think?
The baby has been growing a ton lately. I still have 3 months left and she is only going to grow bigger and bigger. Oh and if anyone is wondering, she still doesn't have a name. She will someday though!
Can I just say how excited Ryan and I were to be able to hang out with our awesome friends Kirk and Heather, and of course their baby Hazel as well. They flew in from Rexburg, Idaho to see family and picked them up from the airport. We went out to dinner and Gustavs German Restaurant and then of course the boys had to go to REI, which you can see in the background. Friends are awesome and we miss all you guys in Rexburg!!
Today Ashley (my sweetest little sister) & I went to get our haircut together. Obviously we both LOVE the results... and the opportunity to show our personalities!!
Ashley was a hippie in another life. She is constantly rooting for peace, love, and harmony! Only if that means rooting for Hannah Montana while watching flight of the Conchords in the middle of a lot of people adoring her.
Katie on the other hand is totally modest, not liking too much attention. She is often found frolicking in a meadow with some doves, or taking long naps with the love of her life in a hammock.
I would like to introduce to you all my new best friend... the Magic Eraser. When you have cleaning to get done, and no energy for scrubbing; turn to Mr. Clean and his Magic Eraser. He was there for me and a few of my friends when we were cleaning out my apartment, and he will continue to be there for me in the future. I am almost tearing up thinking about all the wonderful times we will have in the future. So when you have a job to get done, and feel discouraged about doing it, call Mr. Clean, and get a Magic Eraser, you will be amazed every time you use it, take my word for it.
Stephen and Jenna are HITCHED!! This weekend was so much fun for all of us. We went to the Portland temple on Friday at 10:30 and they were married at 11:00. Ryan was the instigator of this relationship. He thought they would go great together, and he was right. They met at our wedding two years ago, and the rest is history! Jenna looked so beautiful and Stephen was beaming the whole time.
The weather was obviously beautiful. Everyone loved the baby bump. Sometimes I forget that some people haven't seen my little bump but I love to show it off! (But the day was all about Jenna and Stephen... I promise!)
Ryan and Lyle were Stephen's Groomsmen. They all looked so good, and they knew it! This is them posing for the GQ magazine.
Such cute couples!! We missed Isaac and Bretta, but we love them and their new baby boy. All in all, the day was beautiful and a huge success!!
